LISA HAMOR.......................DIRECTOR
Ms. Hamor is a Westchester native with 3 children and has been involved with Vergari Dance Center since it opened in 1981. She attended U.C. Santa Barbara and UCLA studying art and business. She owned other businesses and sold real estate in the area before starting her family and assuming the reins of the studio. She teaches our youngest dancers, starting them off on their dancing journey with a loving hand and she is also the producer of our annual, fabulous Spring Showcase-it is more than a recital! Lisa is proud to be a part of the Westchester community and is active with many local organizations and her children's local public schools.
INTRODUCING CINDY BECKETT ARTISTIC DIRECTOR and CO-FOUNDER iDance LA
Cindy Becket has joined Vergari Dance Center as the interim Artistic Director and with Lisa Hamor is the co-founder and Artistic Director of iDance LA! Cindy brings with her a wealth of experience and has been a teacher and choreographer for over 25 years in Jazz, Lyrical and Tap for both professionals and students. Currently, Cindy works with Drew Right Music (High School Musical) as a performance coach and choreographer. She had a re-occurring role on the television series, *L.A. Forensics* playing SID Investigator, Doreen Hudson as well as with Alejandro Gonzalez Inarittu, Director of *Babel* in his short film *Anna*. Cindy has students working as members of the L.A. Laker Girls and Celtics Cheer Squads and recently returned from Miami from an engagement with her dancers for the NBA*s Miami Heat. In addition, Cindy*s students have worked in the entertainment industry alongside Miley Cyrus, Mitchell Musso, Alyson Stoner (Camp Rock), Shane Sparks and Nick Lazarini, as well as Meg Ryan, Al Pacino, Angela Lansbury, Lisa Kudrow, Drew Cary among others. Her students have received National recognition with many regional and National High Scores and titles of Miss Dance from various competitions including Kar, Headliners, Starbound and Encore competitions, among others. She has judged for Kar, On Stage America, and Dancin Days. Cindy has taught both teachers and students at various workshops and conferences. She was the owner and artistic director of The Dance Center in Newport Beach, CA for 16 years and has a B.A. and M.A from California State University, Fullerton.
INTRODUCING FRANCESCA STERN - BALLET DIRECTOR (RAD)
Please join me in welcoming Francesca Stern as our new Ballet Director. Francesca was trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance in London England and received her teacher training at The Imperial Society Teachers of Dance in Essex, England. Francesca has been the recipient of numerous awards including honors at the All England Ballet Competition. She has also danced professionally for *Concert Dance Theater* for 3 years and was part of the official Olympic dance corps. for the opening and closing ceremonies. Francesca brings to Vergari Dance Center and, soon to be iDance LA, a quality method approach to ballet training. She is qualified to present the Royal Academy syllabus work to students and produces dancers that are both artistic and technically sound. She has taught dancers from beginner through professional at studios in both England and the United States including Stanley Holden. Francesca has also performed in numerous shows, television spots and has been featured in magazine and print work. We are excited to have Francesca with us here at the studio and look forward to her leadership and expertise in developing our ballet program and company productions in the future.
KIM BORGARO is a well-known Los Angeles choreographer and instructor who brings a long list of credits to her teaching resume! She has worked with, and appeared in national commercials and videos with Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, B.B. King just to name a few. As a member of the Lula Washington Dance Theater, she appeared in the 2000 Emmy Awards and has performed all over the world including the Hong Kong Arts Festival, ”Reunion” at the House of Blues (LA), Los Angeles Kaleidoscope Dance Festival, International Blacks in Dance Conference 2000 , and several choreographers showcases in Los Angeles. She has appeared in several theater productions throughout the country including “Waiting for Godot“ and “Company“. Kim currently teaches and resides in Los Angeles and is in high demand for master classes around the world. She is currently one of the top dance competition adjudicators on the circuit today. Kim’s high energy classes provide the balance of strong technique and innovative choreography.
